Plantronics HW111N Corded Headset

The Plantronics HW111N Entera corded headset is designed to be used with your desk phone, smart phone, or computer (each requires the right connector cable). The Plantronics HW111N is an over the head wearing style, and can be worn on either right or left by rotating the microphone.

All corded headsets come with a generic QD (quick disconnect) connection and require an adapter cable to make them compatible with your phone or computer. These range in price from $16 upwards. Many of these cables look the same but are different inside, so if you’re not 100% sure which you need, give us a call and our staff will gladly check for you.

The Good

The Plantronics HW 111N is a cost effective headset that has a comfortable and robust design, with flexible headband to prevent damage by careless users. It’s very popular in call centres as it includes an effective noise cancelling microphone (to prevent your callers hearing those noisy colleagues) on a flexible click stop boom, to allow perfect placement throughout your calls. The mic is wideband which means it offers the most natural sounding voice clarity.

The HW 111N headset has a two year manufacturer’s guarantee and Plantronics’ outstanding warranty service.  You can get replacement ear cushions for hygiene if staff move on or if they just wear out. Its a good idea to pick these up with the headset so you don’t end up paying more for postage in a few months time.

The Not So Good

As with any corded headset, with the Plantronics HW111N you are connected to your phone via a cable, this can be frustrating in a confined workspace where wires lying across your desk become an inconvenience or if you need the flexibility to move around while on a call.If you don’t have a headset port on your phone, a corded headset will take the place of your handset. If you still want to use the handset you can pick up a switch to allow you to swap between the two.

As we’ve mentioned, corded headsets need connector cables, so don’t forget to factor those additional costs when budgeting.  If you have a phone that is difficult to match for compatibility you may have to look at an amplifier. Which while providing superior call control (with mute and volume controls) and sound quality, will push up the price to about the same as a wireless headset (which  have an amp built in), no brainer – if you need an amp, get a wireless headset!

The Verdict

The Plantronics HW111N headset is the solid choice for those that don’t have a huge amount to spend but like the security and consistent quality of a well established and successful brand.
